| Practice Description: |
I have been both a psychotherapist and a neuropsychologist for over 25 years. As a therapist, I have extensive experience working with individuals in all stages of the life cycle; childhood, adolescence and adulthood. As each developmental stage has its own struggles and requires specific adaptations and interventions, psychotherapy must be a collaborative and individualized journey. By understanding our emotional states and behavior patterns we are able to develop a greater sense of control and new and more effective strategies/skills to cope with life’s stresses. I utilize an insight oriented approach in addition to targeted behavioral intervention and specific educational strategies with parents and families.
Neuropsychological testing involves the comprehensive evaluation of cognitive, academic, neurological and psychological functions. The testing is utilized to diagnose and/or evaluate individuals with Attention Deficit Disorder, verbal and non-verbal learning disorders, neurological disorders including traumatic brain injury, and psychiatric disorders. I assess children and adults ages 5 through senior years. I make recommendations to schools, Kindergarten through graduate/professional schools, addressing necessary accommodations and remediation.
I completed graduate and post-graduate training in psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment and for 5 years was Director of Neuropsychology in Neurosurgery at Montefiore Medical Center. My breath of experience allows me to communicate effectively with parents, educators and physicians and ensures that the most appropriate therapeutic interventions are instituted.
