Practice Description: |
Philosophy: The decision to meet with a counselor is a powerful choice. We learn about ourselves via interaction with others. I believe clients thrive when the whole person is seen and recognized, then we determine collaboratively what would help to increase healthy action, peaceful mind, and emotional stability. I use a combination of client-centered therapy and behavioral techniques to assist client's to achieve their personalized goals. Behavioral strategies are taken from cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and mind-body techniques. When clients can focus on their internal experiences and positively change their reactions to things outside of themselves, they tend to thrive, grow, and live fulfilling lives.
Experience: I have 9 years of experience assisting various age groups and demographics to enhance their social, emotional, academic, professional, and family experiences. I work with university students from freshmen to Ph.D level. I have learned to incorporate mindfulness practices and the importance of emotion in the body to assist clients to better understand themselves and treat complex relationship and personal challenges.
Specialties: ADHD, Couples, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Life Transitions, Academic Concerns, Autism/Asperger's
Cognitive Behavior, Dialectical Behavior, Mindfulness, Experiential, Solution-Focused, and Mind-Body Connection via Movement
Client Fit: I am a legally-blind counselor who listens very carefully to my clients. I encourage clients by focusing on identifying your strengths, goals, needs, and priorities. If you are looking for directness, empathy, and to be challenged in a healthy and productive manner, then we may be a great fit. A growth mindset is a powerful key to success. Clients who are open to challenge themselves, open to goal setting, and open to actively engage tend to do well with me.
