I am a psychotherapist licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy providing marital and family therapy, individual adult, child and adolescent therapy in West Hartford.
We all need help sometimes to make changes in the relationships, feelings and thoughts that keep us stuck. You may be feeling that you and your family could be doing a better job supporting each other and meeting each others needs. Maybe you are worried about your or your child's adjustment to a particular stress. Together we can help you to have the life and relationships you want.
Your therapy will look beyond the symptom to all the factors contributing to the problem. More and more people are turning to this approach because they are tired of treating only the symptom with medication or other methods and are ready to make the changes that not only heal the symptom but help them to begin to have the relationships and life they want.
By looking at previously unchallenged thoughts and feelings from childhood, past and present relationships, you will discover how your emotional map has guided the choices you have made in your relationship, career, friendships and coping style. You, your child, or family can make lasting changes by working on what has helped to create the symptom ( i.e. depression, anxiety, anger) and finding ways to heal and respond differently. You will see changes that improve all areas of your life including relationships, career, friendships, mood and self esteem.
