Practice Description: |
I offer a calm space to bring your complaints, feelings, indecisiveness, and pain for both of us to hear out loud and to consider, without interruption, perhaps, for the first time. I offer an opportunity to think together privately about whatever is standing in the way of your aspirations. Age, work, and living has given me a lot of experience with frustration, boundaries of every sort, procrastination, twin parenting, college and graduate school as a non-traditional student, working experience with troubling symptoms such as hair pulling (trichotillomania and other BFRB's), growing older and the many anxieties and stresses we humans are prone to.
It's not true that everyone else has it all figured out. I don't know why that's so hard to believe.
Give US a chance to look over the cards you were dealt and together consider how they might best be managed now.

I don't work directly with any insurance company. To some patients, insurance companies feel like a third person eavesdropping in the consulting room and prohibits honesty and the ability to fully relax. However, I do provide a monthly statement you can use to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, if you wish. |

Hair: The Symbolic Currency of Mourning
The meaning we give to 'hair' is so broad and even changeable. In this study, I discover how the symbolic use of hair to mourn is a "rite of passage" that marks real or symbolic death. In each case discussion, a hair ritual is usefully reconfigured to meet the demands of a changing society while remaining connected to our vanished past through this stable conduit --- hair. |
