Practice Description: |
I am trained both in academia (the Humanities) and in British Object Psychoanalysis, which means I bring a diversity of understanding gained from living these perspectives. I understand feeling out of sync with the flow of life. too young for some experience/too old for another. What's it like to be a non-traditional student?.. like going to college later or changing career direction? I have experience with the stubbornness of trichotillomania, the secretive, stubborn hair pulling that means you're always anxious. I relate to parents of twins with its multiple challenges and frustrations. I know how frustrating procrastination can be. I'm also aware of how technology has altered our lives dramatically, bringing on new problems in all sizes As an older therapist, I've learned that some lived experiences remain similar over time and are share worthy, like working and loving . If you are curious about a trichotillomania study/support group, call me.

However, I do provide a monthly statement you can use to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, if you wish. |

Hair: The Symbolic Currency of Mourning
By broadening my view, I discover how the symbolic use of hair to mourn is a "rite of passage" that marks real or symbolic death. In each case, a hair ritual is usefully reconfigured to meet the demands of a changing society while remaining connected to our vanished past through this stable conduit --- hair. |
