Practice Description: |
With over 35 years of broad clinical experience, Ms. Solomon actively engages her clients' own wisdom and strengths in developing options and strategies to manage the challenges they face. Drawing on Affect and Script Theory and Family Systems Theory, Ms. Solomon guides clients in identifying, understanding, managing and honoring their complex emotions such that they can more effectively express and meet their needs. This is the cornerstone of therapy and of the blueprint for creating a life filled with more enjoyment and satisfaction and with less distress and other painful emotions.
Clients often seek therapy when they feel themselves to be at an impasse in an important relationship, be it their marriage or other partner relationship, or problems with a child, parent, or sibling or with a work situation. Other clients are interested in processing the issues involved in a difficult medical situation or in gaining some relief from anxiety and/or depression that may be related to the loss of a loved one, the stresses of relocation, infertility, adoption, etc. Life in the Greater Washington area can in itself be stressful with exciting though demanding careers, commuting, etc. Whatever the motivation and trigger, Ms. Solomon believes that people seek therapy so that an objective, trained person can provide a calm, non-judgmental environment for sorting out and developing possible solutions to their concerns.
A specialty of Ms. Solomon's practice is couples work. Some pre-marital and married couples choose to work with the Prepare-Enrich tool Both individuals in a couple take an on-line assessment that identifies the strengths and growth areas in their relationship. Ms. Solomon has been specially trained as a facilitator in this unique approach. Other couples may be interested in individual sessions or a combination of individual and couples sessions. Ms. Solomon works with each couple to determine which approach would be best suited for them.
