Practice Description: |
Whether you find yourself surrounded by others or alone, each of us longs to understand how "our story" fits into the "grand story" that connects us all. When the valleys persist and the clouds loom overhead, sometimes we need the safe, unbiased and understanding ear of a counselor to help lift us from the darkness.
For several years I have been counseling people struggling with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, PTSD and women's issues as well as offering family, couples and pre-marital counseling sessions. I am no stranger to the hardships of life as I have persevered through multiple home fires, a home invasion and the deaths of close friends and family. These experiences give me an uncanny ability to understand and empathize with those I counsel as my guided therapy helps my clients move from fear to freedom, from suffering to joy, and to experience positive change in their lives.

Fee Schedule: |
My session rate is $200 for adolescent, individual, couple or family counseling. For families unable to pay this rate I do offer a sliding scale based on income, please inquire when making your initial appointment. I accept cash, check or credit card at the beginning of the appointment. |
Insurance and Billing Details: |
Families wanting to use their insurance should carefully check how their plan handles out-of-network providers. Families using insurance will pay for the session fee directly to me and then submit their receipts to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. Many companies will reimburse for services provided by a counselor holding a license. One consideration when using insurance is that I will be required to give a formal diagnosis, which will become part of your medical records. Some families choose to pay out of pocket to avoid this information becoming part of their records. |

Additional Comments: |
I am a Level II EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist, Certified Brainspotting Therapist, and advanced training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). Presently pursing certification in Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Somatic Experiential (Som-Ex). I received my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca University in Nashville, Tennessee and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my BS in Food & Nutrition from Michigan State University. Although I have worked with a wide spectrum of clients, I have a special interest in helping those with eating disorders, PTSD/Trauma, and working with people struggling through marriage or in abusive or traumatic relationships.
I have worked as an eating disorder liaison at an inpatient facility specializing in Eating Disorders and Alcohol & Drug Addiction. I was the primary counselor for an intensive outpatient facility specializing in Alcohol & Drug Addiction and a primary counselor for an inpatient facility specializing in Binge Eating. My therapy model combines traditional methods and also draws from externships, trainings and personal life experiences. I combine these several avenues to create a place of open possibilities for the client. |
