Practice Description: |
Therapy is an opportunity. I’ve been working over 30 years with people with a wide range of difficulties from different cultures, backgrounds and life situations and know that psychotherapy can be a powerful tool for the process of change.
I offer psychotherapy for adolescents, adults and couples who are experiencing difficulties in relationships, problems at work or school, or who are just finding it hard to gain pleasure in their lives. My approach is guided by the belief that our past influences the way we experience the present. Working to develop a safe relationship we can explore together how past events and patterns of relating to others contribute to difficulties with the goal of improving relationships and issues at work, and to help you achieve a more stable and fulfilling sense of who you are in the world.
Working collaboratively means that I try to meet you where you are and to tailor my work with you in ways that offer the greatest opportunity for successful change. I offer both short-term treatment and long-term intensive treatment depending on your needs. I typically meet with people at least once weekly for 50 minutes sessions which provides a sense of consistency and the time to understand and work on your experiences in-depth. People often find that the benefits of the work increases when meeting more than once weekly; however, I try to be sensitive to how the pace of the work unfolds and will work with you to find the frequency that best suits your needs.
Aside from working with people who want to change troublesome patterns in their lives, I’ve gained experience over the years working in addiction recovery, with those suffering from trauma and loss, and have many years experience working with people suffering more serious psychiatric problems. I also had the opportunity to work at an art college where I gained a special interest not only in young adults and the transitions they face, but with creative people of all ages who might find themselves stuck negotiating the world and their creative work.
Please contact me for an initial consultation to see if this seems like a good opportunity to start this important work together. I look forward to speaking with you.
