Practice Description: |
Whether you are seeking help for yourself or your relationship, please know that significant change is possible. Today you are one step closer to feeling empowered as you learn a more positive path to growth and well-being.
As a therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
If you are a couple yearning for a greater sense of connection and acceptance and/or seeking to resolve current conflicts and stress, I strongly urge you to give couples counseling a chance to help. You will learn new communication skills and make behavioral changes that will promote the health of your relationship well into the future. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. Individual Therapy First Individual Session ( 60-90 minutes): $150-240
At the first session, we will focus on understanding why you are coming for help now, what you are hoping to achieve through counseling, and how you will be able to recognize when your goals are accomplished. As we talk, I will begin to gather relevant information about you from your present situation as well as from previous life experiences. You will be able to gauge your comfort level with me and experience my counseling style. I want clients to leave the first session with some new ideas or ways of thinking and with renewed energy and some hope that things can change. When this happens, people feel better and experience relief.
If you come to the first Continuing Individual Treatment Sessions (60 minutes): $140
The pace of our sessions is based upon your comfort level. Whether we tackle issues quickly or take more time is up to you. I am able to draw upon my many years of experience and training in multiple approaches to provide you with the help that will work best for you. The frequency of sessions depends on many factors that we will discuss. session in crisis, we will deal directly with the crisis, with particular attention to problem-solving, managing emotions, and taking whatever actions are necessary.
Marriage and Couples Relationship Counseling Couples Sessions (60 minutes): $190 (90 minutes): $265
During the first session, couples are able to share their perspectives regarding the marriage or relationship, how they feel about themselves and each other, and what they hope to accomplish through counseling. If time allows, we discuss relationships from an Imago counseling perspective and couples begin to learn and experience a dialogue process to communicate with each other in a more effective, validating, and meaningful manner. A huge difference between Imago Relationship Counseling and other techniques is that couples communicate in the session directly with each other rather than through the therapist. Some of my responsibilities as a Certified Imago Relationship therapist, are to help each partner do this dialogue, to facilitate and deepen the communication process, guide direction, and maintain an open, accepting and safe place for couples to do this work. As couples improve their relationships they also experience individual growth and healing. I am flexible regarding the length of sessions and how often we meet, depending upon each couple’s needs and situation. In order to experience the benefits of counseling and the changes it produces, I suggest that couples commit to at least six one hour sessions or four 90 minute sessions.
Eye Movement Desentization Response (EMDR):
Over the past few years, I trained in EMDR and use it selectively with clients. This is a unique and very effective method of treating recent and past traumas, both big and small. It was first developed in the 90’s and is now used extensively by the military for soldiers with post traumatic stress disorder. I provide this treatment to clients who know about it and are specifically requesting this approach. Many private therapists, including myself, offer EMDR treatment to resolve developmental experiences that were very hurtful and to help clients with current difficult experiences that continue to be emotionally problematic. Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/Abuse:
In the first decade of my career as a therapist, I specialized in serving women who had been survivors of past child sexual abuse and those who were victimized more recently as adults. As a therapist for Montgomery County at that time, I was fortunate to be able to help develop the initial programs for sexual assault and domestic violence victims while also serving as a therapist. Clients especially value my knowledge and understanding of the legal system and laws related to these crimes, as well as, my continued commitment to helping those who have been subjected to it. |
