Practice Description: |
“And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anaïs Nin
Erica Thiem is a compassionate and highly dedicated therapist with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate the challenging, painful moments in their lives. By creating a warm, safe space for her clients, Erica fosters an environment in which individuals feel truly heard, seen, and understood. She believes in the power of connection and uses this therapeutic relationship as a foundation for exploring her clients’ thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. Through this collaborative process, Erica helps clients uncover the underlying causes of their struggles and build greater self-awareness and resilience.
Erica tailors each session to meet the unique needs of each client. She helps them develop the tools and insights they need to heal, thrive, and live a fulfilling life. With a deep sense of empathy, Erica helps clients transform their challenges into opportunities for healing, growth, and fulfillment, ultimately guiding them toward a life with which they feel truly aligned.
Erica Thiem has a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winona State University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. Erica utilizes techniques from Person-Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in 2022. She also has advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Behavioral Activation.
Erica has always been deeply passionate about supporting others. She has a diverse background in helping individuals from various walks of life, including tutoring children, young adults, and refugees. Many years ago, she spent a summer as an equestrian camp counselor, where she led and mentored groups of young campers. Prior to moving to Colorado, Erica’s previous experience includes working with adults in crisis at an inpatient mental health center in Wisconsin, where she provided compassionate care and support. She also held various roles in hospitals across Wisconsin and Minnesota, working closely with patients, families, and medical personnel. Additionally, she co-hosted a bilingual Spanish–English language exchange group for many years, fostering cross-cultural connections and helping individuals build language skills.
