Change -- even positive change -- is difficult. By understanding my clients' individual strengths and applying effective treatment approaches, change can happen. This is a process that evolves through a working relationship of open communication and trust. My approach is first to provide my clients with a safe environment created through empathic and non-judgmental listening.
My training and experience allow me to use a blended approach of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and person-centered therapy. Depending on the stage of the treatment process, different approaches are applied. Insight is important in understanding the dynamics of relationships and family and how patterns and habits developed. However, identifying and changing those patterns of behavior is the focus of our work together.
I am a licensed by the State of New York as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling with a speciality in substance abuse.
