Marcy Abramsky, LCSW

InspireAmind®

Marcy Abramsky, LCSW provides telemental health services through a modern counseling practice focusing on individuals, families, and groups to manage unwanted symptoms brought on by life issues. A provider of support, motivation and coaching through life transitions, Marcy is proficient in various areas: chronic health conditions, clinical mental health diagnosis, transitions (career, school / school year, job, global health, terrorism, and extreme weather (e.g. home displacement crisis), and many other challenging life situations.

STAYING UP-TO-DATE

Keeping herself educationally and clinically up-to-date, and training in research-based modalities of psychotherapy, allows her to keep an integrated practice, pulling from multiple modalities to meet the needs of her clients.

In addition to updating her knowledge from completion of the TeleMental Health Training Certificate THTC Program, she has a background in Multi-systemic Therapy (trained in SC) and multiple certificates of completion from programs that assist her in serving families, pre-teens, teens and adults. She also has a post masters in Higher Education. Marcy is currently Licensed in the State of New York as a Clinical Social Worker, NYS Permanent Certified School Social Worker, and holds a NYS Professional (Permanent) Certification in School District Leadership.

AS A CLIENT

I bring a past of generous experiences which helped me grow to see the whole person, and all the areas of life that impact emotions, happiness, fulfillment, and clarity.

MY PERSPECTIVE

As a clinician, I hope to stand out as a supportive member of society, through what I do for my clients (hopefully with you) in my private practice and in the community. I feel strongly about working with students, parents and school districts to enhance safety, social/emotional, academic growth, and inspiring people to find the strength within themselves to meet their personal goals through life challenges.

My connections with individuals, parents, and groups will always be my first priority to improve and inspire minds.

SETTINGS/EXPERIENCE

Beginning my career at the NYC Department for the Aging, I assisted seniors in navigating the NYC health and prescription care system on Lafayette St. in NYC. My work continued with at-risk teens and their parents, using Multi-systemic Therapy with home visits, court appearances, and school advocacy to preserve the family unit, when possible. I provided MST therapy on contract for Erie County Family Preservation Unit.

Shifting to an environment “as a parent” in the “evening shift” at a teen group home, I served Erie County, Bronx, NYC & Suffolk Co. agencies and schools, Gateway Longview, The Archdioceses of New York based in the Bronx & Buffalo, and New York State (Erie County Courts). The sum of these experiences created more passion to understand the importance of all the systems and a greater love of my work!

FACILITATE COMMUNITY CHANGE

As a facilitator of special interest groups, I am an advocate for environmental safety, women’s safety, and parent concerns. I worked directly with families of victims during 9/11, natural and man-made disasters (hurricanes, unsafe water, and safety in schools) in NYC and the suburbs of NYC, Texas and New Orleans. I worked with MSW students during the spring of 2020 as an adjunct, creating a program for graduate interns to support isolated seniors. I was a trained crisis counselor for NYS during the pandemic, and was part of a program as a free counselor offering translation services for Ukraine.

In May of 2022, the mass shooting in my hometown of Buffalo, NY, and continuing violence in our nations schools, continues to fuel a need for me to point out the value that every person's life holds. From the youngest child, to the eldest adult, everyone should feel worthy of time to reflect, reframe, gain support, clarity and inspiration.

I AM INSPIRED BY THE VALUE IN ALL PEOPLE

I have been inspired by the darkest and purest of issues across the globe, and in my own community. My deep interest and background in the field of education, clinical mental health, and assisting people in managing their ability to relate to one another and the world inspires me in my work.

InspireAmind® became a creative trademark that encapsulated my goals, and propelled me as a clinician, into the business world to write programs and guides for agencies, schools and families. I wanted to begin to write and create tools and digital methods to support people. Next to working directly with clients, that is what I enjoy.
