Maria is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a passion for supporting individuals and families in their self-growth and healing journey. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. As your therapist, Maria aims to collaboratively create with you a supportive, respectful and empathic space where you feel heard, validated and understood. She has experience working with children, youth and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, immigrants, individuals and families in vulnerable conditions, and individuals with a cancer diagnosis.
Maria utilizes a biopsychosocial approach in therapy and integrates different therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, IFS, Polyvagal Theory for Trauma, among others, based on your unique needs and preferences. Maria understands that finding a therapist you connect with is critical for the success of the therapeutic process. She offers a 15-minute free consultation to get to know her better, ask questions and see if you can be a good fit!
Maria provides therapy in English and Spanish. She also knows that financial concerns can be a barrier to seeking support, which is why she offers a sliding scale for those in need.
